From 2026-Present
Notable events:
In March of 2026, our Choir presented representative hymns that underlied our Director's invited lecture at Heinz Chapel, as part of the Beatrice Institute's Lecture Series. The lecture-concert featured how ancient Greek poetry evolved into 6th-7th century Christian hymnology and how works from Homer, Euripides, Sophocles, Pindar, and even Aristophanes, were masterfully woven by the "Canon-graphers" of the 7th-9th century to bridge ancient Hellenic "apocrypha" into ecclesiastic hymns of the major Christian festal cycles. The Choir presented musical examples across all eight modes from the 7th century and slow melodic variations that were adapted later in history (17th century onwards).
