The Greek Nation and the Revolution inside the Klephtiko Song (Part 2)
Program in Greek
…Continuing from the previous evening's presentation…
The Klephtiko songs and the epic poetry that they express are an untapped source of information about the lives and the culture of the Greek people under Ottoman rule. They vividly portray gallantry, bravery, compassion, humanity, loss, lament, and the underlying virtues that cemented the Greek peoples' uncompromising decision to sacrifice everything, including their lives for liberty.
The program was originally composed in 1981 by three distinguished and internationally-renowned and respected Greek Orthodox clergy in Montreal, Quebec, Canada:
The Rev. Konstantinos Halvatzakis (of late blessed memory) composed and wrote
the historical/cultural presentation
The Rev. Protopresbyter Panagiotis Sallatelis presented the historical/cultural composition
The Rev. Protopresbyter Georgios Saitanis of late blessed memory brought the words to life
with an unparalled musical passion and virtuosity
